7:00 p.m. Call to Order
Roll Call: Jeff O’Gara, Lee Hackman, Justin Ratzlaff, Kirk
Johnson, Pete Blodgett, Jeff Freidhof, Doug Osborn, Rich Gosen, Jim Tripp, Erik
Sovern, Marc Folkedahl, Ron Moffitt.
Treasurer’s report: $1,734.91 in our Park and Rec.
Acct. ($624 of that is from
Toppling Goliath’s Watershed Wheat Project). $611.06 in the club checkbook. $50 needs to be paid to Lee Hackman for last year’s parade
candy (done May 28, 2012)

28e Committee Request/TOW Trout Run
Trail Phelps Park Connection.
Have had positive feedback on the
trail link project. News article/press
release to follow.
Decorah Time Trials recap and
discussion for next year’s event.
Some discussion on the short
distance of the race… the good and the bad… Cross traffic was discussed… Shorter distance makes for an
easier transition to the end of race awards ceremony etc… Age categories should
possibly be re-worked… Should the course add The Pines? Or Little Big Horn? It
was proposed that we possibly move the Time Trials to Saturday afternoon and
promote a Sunday Fun Day ride.
Old Business:
1. Website/Blog Responsibilities
update. Nothing New.
2.
Trail building and maintenance for 2012.
Should we get a gas-powered generator to add to our tools?
We should pay another person (Possibly Kyle Lindquist)
$10.00 per hour to do some “trail improvement work,” and some various shoring
up of damaged trails. We’d need to
check with Park and Rec first about hiring this person. Moved by O’Gara; second by
Deke-Unanimous vote, Yes.
Boa needs shoring.
Do we want to redo Old Randy’s this year? Or not?
3. Club Clothing/Hats/Jerseys. Nothing New.
4. NordicQuest, the date for this
event has not been set. Nothing
New. (August date possibly).
5. Dirt Burger update for the
Fri.-Sun., June 8-10, 2012 event.
McCaffrey’s will host live music,
“Beet Root Stew” from 7-10pm Sat. night.
McCaffrey’s will pay for the band.
We need volunteers to collect $ at the door that night. Jeff O’Gara will
take care of the camping area.
Need $50 for advertising with KDEC.
Mention in local arts and entertainment page.
6. Night Shift Night Race update
for the Saturday, September 29, 2012, event. Justin Ratzlaff volunteered to be
the race director for the Night Shift.
New Business:
1. Decorah Open Streets Event
Request (June 10th, 2012). (Sunday FOLLOWING DIRT BURGER)
“My name is Heidi
Skildum and I am working on an exciting event that
will occur in
Decorah on Sunday, June 10th called Decorah Open
Streets. Decorah Open Streets is a celebration
of personal, communal
and environmental wellness held on
car free streets that are then Open Streets for activities of all kinds.
As part of the
event, we would like to showcase some of the amazing
adventures
available outside of Decorah's downtown district. We are
hoping to
advertise tours on our hiking and biking trails as well as
our waterways. I am wondering if
Decorah Human Powered Trails would like to organize a mountain bike tour on our
trails leaving the event at some point between 11 AM and 3 PM. It is up to you if you would like to
charge for the tour (everything else at the event is free) but we hope that
participants could meet at the Decorah Open Streets event and then ride to the
trail head.

Jeff Freidhof and
Kirk Johnson volunteered to lead a couple of short Mtn Bike Rides leaving from
the Fareway parking lot at 12:00 Noon and 2:00 p.m.
2. Service Project/Canoe Landing.
Lots of discussion on this
item. It was proposed that
DHPT construct a canoe landing
downstream from Twin Bridges. It would be a permanent structure (with
acknowledgement that a large flood event could take it out.) made with railroad
ties, large rocks and concrete . We’d need a generator. Perhaps we rent one from Decorah Rental
or see if Wicks Construction would have one to borrow. There would be a sign
erected that says “Built by Decorah Human Powered Trails.” It could be at the current “landing”
where the stream empty’s into the river… or it could be moved to calmer water a
little downstream. It was determined that such a project would fall into our
mission. We should look into this further and discuss at the next meeting in
June. Motion to form a committee
to come up with a plan and present a the next meeting (Committee chair: Deke;
Doug Osborn, Jeff O’Gara, Jeff Freidhof).
3. Other Items?
Cuyuna Trip June 1-3, 2012. Depart 8:00 am, Ride Lebanon at 11:00
am on way up to Cuyuna. Deke will get a campsite. Return Sunday.

month is DHPT Meeting Night.
*2nd Tuesday of each
month is TT or Enduro.
*4th Wednesday of each
month is TT or Enduro.
